At Mars, we’re always looking for new, innovative products that bring families and friends together. A variation of these products were introduced at the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago, Illinois. In addition, Mars Food, Drinks and Multisales Global President, Fiona Dawson, participates in a panel on how to rewrite recipes for Big Food and Victor Mehren, General Manger for Wrigley US, gives us some insight on what it’s like to work at Wrigley.

Mars sponsored the 2016 Sweets and Snacks Expo on May 24-26th at the McCormick place and the Skyline Hall in Chicago, Illinois. The expo, hosted by the National Confectioners Association, set an all-time record in attendance as more than 17,000 industry professionals from more than 90 countries set foot to view the latest trends in candy and snacks.

At the expo, Mars introduced several solutions to grow retailers’ businesses, including its Transaction Zone Vision panel discussion, “Meeting Consumers’ Needs in the Transaction Zone.” A panel of shopper experience experts from Wrigley, Mars Chocolate, Walgreens, and WD Partners led an insightful discussion about how manufacturers and retailers can maximize new and existing transaction zones by adapting to current trends in the retail environment to fulfill shopper needs at check out.  “We’re using our transaction zone research to create customized strategies that are tailored to build our retail partners’ businesses,” said Edward Taylor, VP U.S. Sales and Operations for Wrigley.

Mars also introduced several new products at the expo including ORBIT®, SNICKERS® Hazelnut, TWIX® White Chocolate Cookie Bars, SKITTLES®, STARBURST®, JUICY FRUIT®, DOVE® Sorbet Bars, DOUBLEMINT®, and a range of seasonal offerings for some of its most popular brands.  For the M&M’S® candies 75th Anniversary, the company provided a virtual reality experience at the show by bringing colorful fun to attendees with a tour of Yellow’s room and virtual tour of all six of the M&M’S® Spokescandy apartments located right outside the entrance. Participants felt as if they were in the homes of the M&M’S® Spokescandies and were able to unlock different doors and walk into each room by focusing on M&M’S® candies. In addition, STARBURST® Gummies® candies won the 2016 Most Innovative Non-Chocolate Product at the 2016 expo.
